Spring Recital, Studio Policies, and SUMMERTIME!

Tuesday, May 3, 2016 by Hannah Violette | Uncategorized

It is that time of year again, when the flowers are blooming, temperatures are rising, and thoughts of summer freedom are looming on all of our minds.  This means only one thing...IT'S TIME FOR THE SPRING RECITAL!

The Spring Recital will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10:00 am in the Garden Room at the Baker County Library.  As always, there will be snacks provided.  Please come support your students who have been working so hard this year!  Two students, Lincoln Nemec and Matthew Rabourne, will be recognized for their achievements in the Oregon Music Teachers' Association Syllabus program.

FINAL LESSON, SUMMER LESSONS, AND FALL ENROLLMENT: The final week of school will also be the final week of academic year lessons.  After having to work with returning students remedially following a summer with no study, I am asking that all students take at least 2 lessons per month in July and August, to avoid the dramatic loss of knowledge and skill.  Please anticipate spending at least 10 minutes with your student at that final lesson in June to arrange your summer lesson times.  If you absolutely cannot schedule your student for summer lessons, please remit the $100 fall enrollment fee no later than your student's last lesson.  Otherwise, the annual enrollment fee of $100 will be invoiced in August.

This brings me to a significant studio policy change: rather than billing a flat monthly rate, starting in July, I will be billing per lesson at my going rate of $25.  You can review the new studio policies which are now live on the website by clicking here.  I decided to implement this for 2 reasons:  1) Even with a strict make-up policy in place, several students expected that I would be making up no-shows or last minute cancellations, and 2) I am returning to graduate school in July and there will be several weeks throughout the year when I will be unable to meet with students. I believe that it will be much easier to track your tuition dollar this way than by charging annual/monthly tuition, and will relieve everyone from the make-up lesson scheduling dance.  You will note that, to replace the 2 make-up credits (which will no longer be given), 2 excused absences are allowed with the money paid for the missed lesson being applied to the next month.  Please review the new policies correctly so that you understand the change in business model, and, as always, call me with questions.

Next year's studio calendar will be posted by the end of May.

I have had a thrilling year working with all of the students, and am looking forward to making more music with more students in the coming months!  See you at the recital!

Welcome back!

Harmonics Music Studio opened its doors for the 2015-16 academic year just three weeks ago, and we've gotten off to a great start!  Welcome to Daniel and Chloe and Matthew, and welcome back Lincoln!

I am so happy to say that this year we will be having several group lessons throughout the year.  Group lessons serve several purposes:

  • Develop performance skills
  • Learn ensemble playing
  • Socialize with other students
  • Enjoy Ms. Hannah's GREAT snacks

Our first group lesson is scheduled for one hour on Friday, October 2, at 10:00 am.  THERE WILL BE SNACKS and we'll have a great time working on rhythm and learning some music history.  I can't wait to see you there!  Please RSVP so I know just how many brownies I'll be making...

I know some have been waiting a LONG TIME for this, and now it's here: Harmonics Music Studio is opening its doors to the aspiring vocalist! After looking all over for quality vocal curriculum, our musical friends in Canada have, once again, filled the demand with grace, ease, and beauty!  Students as young as 7 can now get a comprehensive musical foundation, as intensive, purposeful,  and repertoire-rich as any Harmonics piano student receives.

Studio policies (tuition and fees, lesson times, etc.) are consistent between voice and piano students.

Lesson slots are limited so call or email today.  Sing on!
